Samatoki is a little nervous before asking you to move in, but he’s actually quite confident and excited for it

he’ll play it off as cool though of course, he’s never going to be that open about it

if it’s come to the point of moving in, then you already stay over at his place quite a bit and have a bunch of clothes and an extra toothbrush laying there

so it’s already not too much of a stretch to imagine you living at his place full time

especially since Nemu isn’t living there anymore, he has more than enough space for the two of you

he’s going to ask you one night after a long week when the two of you are snuggling up on the couch just watching TV

it’ll come as a random thought, just Samatoki voicing his idea out loud that you could potentially move in if you wanted since your stuff is there taking up space anyways

and of course it takes you a moment for his words to really sink in because sometimes he just says stuff like that

but this time you can tell he really means it when he asks you if you want to move in with him

and you get so excited and throw your arms around him and say that of course you’d love to move in with him 

and that it’s good timing because your other lease is ending soon, so you won’t need to worry about breaking it

when you ask Samatoki what made him bring this up, he avoids your gaze, saying that he just wanted to make things permanent since you’re always around his place and annoying him all the time

and although his words are teasing, you can tell that he actually means them with love and excitement to have you move in

and you can also tell by the way he’s cleaning the place 24/7 to have it be spick and span, that he’s going to have quite a few house rules for you to follow

but you don’t really mind following them as long as it means the two of you get to spend that much more time together when you live in the same apartment

Juto Iruma

Juto feels like it’s a big step in your relationship to ask you to move in with him

he’s dated lots of people but he’s never been with someone he likes enough to actually have them move into his space

so he’s going to take a lot of time to figure out if that’s really what he wants and if it’s feasible for you to move into his apartment

I feel like he would have a rather nice, large place so size wouldn’t really be an issue, it’s more of whether or not he’s ready to take that step

after a long time of thinking about it and making up his mind, he’ll bring it up to you

I can imagine him taking it more seriously, wanting to have a proper conversation to you about where you’re at in your life and whether you would even want to move in with him

the two of you would discuss work and commute routes, rent payment options, and everything under the sun that could possibly be a logistical issue with you moving in

Juto would have this conversation with you over a nice dinner at a restaurant so that the two of you could have some time to yourselves without distractions

it’s less spontaneous because Juto thinks this is something you should both have a say in and something that he wants to do the right way

and when you finally tell him that you do want to move in with him and that you’re excited to take that next step, Juto will agree

even though he’ll be stressed out, he’s still going to order a bottle of fancy champagne for the two of you to pop in celebration

since he’s already made his mind up about it and he knows it’s what he wants, he’ll want you to move in soon

he doesn’t like things being halfway done, so he’ll offer to help you move all your things over and you think it’s cute that he’s so eager

Juto won’t really think about all the fun, cute moments of living together until all of your things are moved in and set up

only then will he actually allow himself to realize how great of an idea moving in together is and how happy he’ll be to see you every day

you know this of course and are more than happy to move your things over to his place and start your happy couple life together

Riou Busujima

Riou take a long while to think about it when he finally decides that he wants the two of you to live together

it’s difficult for him to come to terms with actually living in a house instead of his comfortable tent out in nature

but he really wants to do right by you and he feels like now is the best time to take the next step

so not only does he find the perfect apartment for the two of you to share, he gets excited about asking you to move in with him

if Riou is going this far, the two of you are definitely at a point in your relationship where you’re going to say yes to moving in with him so Riou won’t be overly nervous to ask you or anything

it’ll be a casual dinner night at your place when he decides to ask you, right after you finish eating and you ask him if he wants dessert

instead of responding, he simply takes ahold of your hand and asks if you would like to move in with him

at first you laugh and raise an eyebrow, asking if there’ll be enough room in that tent of his for both of you

but when he smiles and shows you the pictures of the apartment he’s in the process of leasing, it leaves you incredibly surprised

you had always just assumed he would move into your space, but the idea that the two of you could have a different location to make your own, together, made you emotional

of course you say yes, because the two of you have talked about it before, casually mentioning that you would love to get a big house together in the woods someday

and although this apartment is still in the city, far from being secluded in the woods, it’s close to a nice little park and you suppose that’s good enough for now

the rest of the dinner date is spent excitedly talking about when to move in and what kind of decorating your would like to do

it’s mutually agreed that the kitchen and the dining space needs to be big enough for the both of you

Domestic HCs - Sasara, Rosho, Rei and Samatoki

Sasara:

-having chill time at home with sasara is so much fun!! even if his jokes are terrible the atmosphere is super light and you feel so comfortable

-i feel like..he likes to try stand-up routines on you to see your reactions sometimes. he’s pretty confident in himself though, and sometimes he likes keeping things to himself if he knows you’re going to one of his shows

-you help him come up with routines sometimes actually!! or..give him advice since he’s a bit of a Big Deal and definitely knows what he’s doing

-he likes watching movies with you. if you feel like relaxing, he’s really good at helping with that (what with the terrible puns and all lol)

-he’s either really good at cooking or absolutely terrible, no in-between..idk i just get that vibe from him lol. he knows how to make some pretty good stuff but sometimes he just..goes wrong somehow and it’s suddenly not lookin too hot. 

-while he’s not exactly manipulative per say, he’s quite good at saying things in a certain way to get you to do what he wants lol. like if he wants you to rest because you’ve been working hard all day and just don’t seem to know when to quit, but you’re being stubborn he’s good at convincing you to take a break or just go to bed for the night in a roundabout way, for example. he cares a lot about you!!

-one time you woke up to him just lying there with a clown nose on and you turned around and went back to sleep immediately

-probably owns a clown car you get to be driven around in

-in all seriousness being with sasara is so much fun, even if you don’t fully live with him yet, cause he’s just vibin?? all the time even when times are bad he always has jokes to tell to make you feel better

Rosho:

-oH HE IS SO SWEET just being around him makes you go like ooOOOHHH

-as a teacher he’s really realllyyy helpful if you get stuck doing..well anything really. he’s good at giving advice (although he doesn’t seem to think he’s anything special..bruhhhh)

-surprisingly funny!! he doesn’t seem it on the surface, but he used to be a comedy duo with sasara of all people and he can be really entertaining when he gets over his self-consciousness around you

-almost every night before bed you guys have a sort-of routine where you read a book for 30 mins-an hour and discuss it a little. as a teacher he has to be well-read i assume, and you decide to join in because reading is Fun and Cool (in fact..did you know you are reading this right now? how meta. ohh ok im interrupting this imagine to give you guys a random fact. did you know bees sting other bees? they have guard bees that hang around the hive and sting intruders. waot why did i feel the need to say that ok back to imagines).

-he makes really good hot chocolate! for both of you. a total uwu moment

-you guys totally adopt a cat (maybe a black cat?? black cats are good!) to take care of together and it’s so cute!! he doesn’t mind what you name it as long as it isn’t Sasara 2

-anyways. living with rei is...interesting. he’s totally loaded from not taking care of his sons being a conman, so the place you guys share is quite luxurious

-he really REALLY lays on the charm for you. when he doesn’t have ulterior motives he can be really sweet. He cares for you a lot

-he’s good at taking care of tasks around the house, like he’ll make sure everything is done by lunchtime so you guys can just relax for the rest of the day (and he can keep scammin ppl lol)

-oh he’s really good at cooking!! like so talented almost hifumi level what da hell you feel like every day is a good food day

-is up for almost anything, he kinda just goes along with whatever on his days off cause he’s quite busy and doesn’t mind doing anything to relax

-BUT. if he decides you’re even slightly tired or sick or anything watch out because he’ll make you rest immediatel y and there goes all your plans of just fighting through it to get stuff done. He’ll get you anything you need and stays by your side if you aren’t well, and if you’re tired and having trouble sleeping he’ll hold you until you can (he has big yamada titties it’ll be nice trust me i motoroboat ichiro’s titties on the daily)

-he really cares about you despite his seemingly manipulative and false exterior. he’s a bit of a bastard at times but you love him anyway and his times being sweet n kind more than make up for his fucky times. just being able to have a taste of a normal life is lovely for him so he really appreciates you!!

Samatoki:

-ok domestic life with samatoki is kind of weird!!! because he’s a yakuza member and knows all these dodgy people you have all sorts coming over quite frequently, including juto and rio which is at least nice for a change from the usual

-he loves you so much and he’s so afraid of losing you (ow my heart!) so he’ll do anything to make you happy, whether that be doing all the chores on a day where you’re feeling lazy or refusing to leave your side if you show even the slightest hint of feeling bad or off in any way - since his mother killed herself after killing his father, he’s really really cautious when it comes to making sure the people he loves are okay and knowing they’re loved

-at the same time he’s so bad at chores lol he gets so angry so easily. you have to help him sometimes because he accidentally pulled the washing out of the dryer too hard when it got caught on something and ripped it and now he’s boiling with rage and you hear him grumbling to himself and come in and have to calm him down aND stuff like this happens at least twice a week lol

-you’re a little weary of the yakuza who keep randomly showing up but he insists that the ones who know where he lives are the ones you can trust, so you take his word for it and once you warm up to them it honestly isn’t that bad. it makes the house more lively, especially when it’s been a particularly bad day

-sometimes you can’t seem to cheer samatoki up when his thoughts get the better of him, so at times like that it’s just best to give him space. you guys know each other well and know when to respect each others boundaries (though you have to remind him of this sometimes)

-when you wake up to him he’s always holding you, even if you guys have had a fight; he never wants to lose you ok i went and made myself emo thanks me

Yokohama Division’s mediator, Iruma Juto, as played by Komada Wataru-san. He was asked on how he delivered Juto’s unique high-tension rap style, also on how he approached this project and an outlook to the character.

How do you feel about the huge amount of responses to the project lately?

Since we started the project with a “full-fledged rap”, we ourselves also had an uneasy feeling and was not sure if people would accept it. So we were really surprised to hear that the response was bigger than we imagined. “Hypnosis Microphone” is divided into 4 divisions: for example, Yokohama Division had rappers who’re actually from Yokohama to collaborate in making the songs, etc; they even included sounds that has the characteristics of Ikebukuro. We got comments like “they made it so particular” from fans of hip-hop, which makes me really happy. Also this was from the early days of the project, but hearing things like “that sounds fun” or “I want to try that” from our industry makes me glad.

Was Komada-san familiar with hip hop before the project?

I grew up in Germany, and the hip hop culture there is more active than in Japan so I was familiar to it as a listener. Therefore in this project, I tried to create the feeling and sounds from the hip hop I’ve listened to before.

It is said that there was an audition, how did you feel at that time?

If its an idol project, idol songs are like the set piece. But, for Hypnosis Mic it was a reggae song. Moreover, rather than the hook, I was tested on doing an unique melody line. I think it’s for seeing our vibes and rhythem, which was new to me. Perhaps there’re roles that are already designated during the audition, but I was given rough illustrations of the characters, setting guidelines and also the freedom to choose. Among the ones I was interested in were Busujima Mason Riou, Arisugawa Dice and Iruma Juto. I feel an affinity to Riou, thinking how nice it is to let him use English, and as for Dice I never played a character as easygoing as him. But, the character I’m used with are always the intellectual ones wearing glasses. Although Juto is usually cold-hearted and cool, when he raps he goes on a sudden change so I thought that he is very interesting. It’s not favorable to play the same role twice (laugh), but at least I have a character that I can draw new experiences from..

After your role was decided, how did you build your character?

When I actually started playing [Juto], I still got very little of detailed information about him. Because of that, I got myself several patterns, thinking  “Maybe it’ll feel like this?”.  Those things I came up with, I use as a base, so when I rap I asked on how far should I go on making Juto’s sudden change. Since I was told that he can become a totally different person , I went all out with the rap out. And by nature, I have a powerful voice. So those who listened to the song would say “Juto seems energetic!” (laughs).. But if the tension is to that extent, it is a success to me. When I hear the song, I realized that I challenged myself too much on coming up for something different, so I couldn’t imagine the usually cool Juto.

How were the song recordings?

Whichever content the demo song was given, Hypnosis Mic will make the demo song sound good. It really makes you think, “Isn’t this good enough already?!” (laughs). Since I was influenced like that, once I check the rhythm and rhyme stanzas, I try to face the character without listening to the sound. The rap part doesn’t have a music score, so it is free to insert or take something out. But to get compliments from fans of hip hop,  it is important to have a lot of practice.  Therefore, I listened to a lot of rap patterns that includes freestyle, and made certain rules within myself for the sake of that rap feeling. I think other cast are doing this as well, so everyone gets better every recording, and has a stronger grasp of what to do.

In the Niconama Rap Battle, you showed off your freestyle, didn’t you?

That’s right! That was pretty harsh (laughs). “Will we be given a script?” was what I thought, but we were really told to freestyle. So in order to deal with the responses during the live performance, we were sweating on our foreheads in the dressing room, desperately thinking of lyrics.

But you guys seemed to do it without any difficulty, you guys really are amazing.

We face difficulty all the time! (laughs). But, to take a rhythm and put words to it , it seemed so far away since the first time so it’s fun to accept the challenge. “Thanks, Hypmic!”, kind of feeling (laughs).

So, what do you feel about Yokohama Division’s team, MAD TRIGGER CREW?

Fierce, they give a strong impression of aggressiveness. As of now, they don’t only chop very fast rhymes but their choices of words are the utmost violent, and the characters are placed in the most rough environment. Maybe physically, they’re the strongest team. Since they live in that kind of unforgiving environment, it seems like that is where their sharp piercing words and sounds came from. Their occupation is all over the place too….. I don’t even know if I should call it their occupation as well. (laughs).  

In the songs and drama, I feel that they get along unexpectedly well.

Taking good care of one another is part of the hip hop culture. They are still a team, even if they’re a bunch of pricks. Even though they’re really rude towards each other, when Samatoki somehow got admonished by Riou, Juto would go and stop them, which is unexpected for him to show understanding towards Samatoki. That kind of relationship with each other is what makes a beautiful balance to them. They have no foundation like “I like this guy” or “I trust him” to their relationship, so I thought it would be a challenge for them to battle as a team. Therefore, I got a feeling that Yokohama Division are pretty good guys, aren’t they? (laughs).

What kind of impression do you have on Samatoki and Riou?

Samatoki is the member of the legendary team that established an era, The Dirty Dawg. Due to that fact, it gave him great amount of pride. And of course, this brings a lot of nuisance to Juto and the rest of the police force  (laughs), Samatoki’s a very stubborn man. I feel like he is a leader who will open up if I tag along with him. Juto and Riou do not follow Samatoki, but rather, stand with him as equals, so all 3 of them kept a perfect balance among each other. They might fall if one of them is missing, but if the three of them are together, they seem to be alert and stand for their own in whatever they do, which just gives a feeling of relief.  Also, Riou’s existence just felt like he’s the buffer , doesn’t he? His dishes are brutal, but it has become a key to calm the atmosphere down in a moment. (Bitter smile)

Samatoki and Juto seem to know each other from a long time ago.

Indeed. “A Yakuza whom I befriended” (laughs). I need more details on that!! Now in Chuuoku, their past wasn’t revealed as much. But I’m sure there’s been a cause and effect in the past, that’s how they are able to be in a team now. For that reason, it makes me feel like both of them are drawn to each other, or dependent on one another . They’re foils to each other,  and I find that interesting.

You’re also interested in Juto’s past, aren’t you?

This is just my imagination but, maybe, he did have an upright sense of justice when he was younger. However, the world was heavily infested by evil. With his position only as a policeman, he realized that it is impossible for him to deal with everything so he felt that despair.

Not only he became rotten, by taking in evil he could ruin things from the inside, and that seems like a good idea. Although it’s quite a dangerous thought, it does make sense in a way. I mean, he could also handle a dangerous dog like Samatoki. In that sense, he seems to be good at winning people over and is capable of adapting to his surroundings. I really want to know how his past was like!

In the drama part, Juto gave advice to Jiro and Saburo on how they’re being too dependent on their eldest brother, didn’t he?

Juto is so kind~ (to the kids) !  That why you can call him a guardian (laughs). However, it is because Ikebukuro is their opponent, that’s why you can see this side of Juto. I think he’ll be different with other teams. He’s extremely uninterested to those who can’t do anything or are talentless. It doesn’t take much time for him to crush those people down, by just saying “try to face yourself once again”. While Juto could sense the threat from the future growth of the  Ikebukuro boys, he look forward to that boiling blood of theirs. That is why, Ikebukuro team interests Juto a lot. He definitely won’t admit that, but it’s good that he’s aware of that.

Next, we are going to touch about the songs.First, please show us some key points of your solo song, “Bayside Smoking Blues”.

Basically, it’s as if you’re standing alone, smoking cigarette while watching the scenery of Minato Mirai and its surroundings. Other than that, I was told to do it as how I like. Samatoki and Riou’s solo song has other characters joining in, but for Juto’s song, it’s literally a solo song. There’s no one there to help him sing (laugh). That’s why he’s been saying “I’m a lonely only RABBIT” on every chorus, expressing that he’s a lonely only RABBIT. The hardest part of the song is obviously the rap. At the introduction part, in order to express what kind of person and what kind of position Juto has in Yokohama, I checked and try to say the very Juto-esque words like “I'll arrest you” or “Pig Pen [jail cell]” so that it remains in people’s ears. There’s no way I’d scream such foul word like “mother xxxx”, though (laughs) . Other than that, Juto being the number one brain but a bit nihilistic is beautiful. Since that’s the case, I tried to rap in a calm and charming manner so I won’t change that image.

Then how about Buster Bros!!! And MAD TRIGGER CREW’s WAR WAR WAR song?

This song has the so-called freestyle battle feels. It feels more like a stage battle rather than a song. It has the baton-passing format, so I thought that it was fun with all the clear call and responses. I responded to Jiro (Yamada) but, the recording is different. When Jiro speaks to Juto, his words are littered with sharp glares and phrases meant to knock him off his feet, that’s what I think. However, whatever their enemy says, Yokohama gathers and releases the strength to utterly annihilate them. The tension rises, to the point a policeman said “We’re cold-blooded killers” (laughs). Maybe I’m thinking about it too much, but that phrase is certainly a killer word, it’s important to me.

After listening to the complete product, how do you feel about Jiro’s rap?

Jiro is much stronger than I imagined. If someone were to record half-heartedly, it is obvious that the power balance would collapse, so everyone definitely did their best in this.

There must be a battle among the casts, aren’t there?

We do battle! Haru-kun (who plays Jiro) listens to the complete songs, even now, “that comeback is strong!” he says in regret  (laughs). “You’re strong too!” was what I thought, but it’s great to see everyone’s doing their best.

So what do you think about Yokohama Division’s song, “Yokohama Walker?”

To me, I imagine the 3 Yokohama members riding an open car (convertible), running through the sea breeze while smoking cigarette at the bayside. Juto drives, Samatoki sits at the passenger’s seat raising his legs and Riou sits diagonally in the back seat because he does not fit (laughs). They won’t talk much, driving towards any desired destination as they please. It’s as if they’re taking a short break after the whole deal in the screwed up world of theirs. The song doesn’t make me feel anything as much, but it sure do has a lot of brutal words. “The path home dirtied by blood” or Juto’s “I’ll handcuff and arrest him to kill some time” is definitely not something a policeman should say (laughs). But I don’t feel the least bit uncomfortable saying it, since it’s important for the establishment of this character. The gaps between the sound and lyrics has a meaning that’ll make the song a killer, and I like that.

Which character are you interested in Shibuya Division and Shinjuku Division?

I enjoy listening to Shibuya Division Arisugawa Dice’s song, it makes me want to sing along, so I got interested. As for Shinjuku Division, they have this peculiar vibe that is eerie, but fun. (Jinguji) Jakurai-sensei is really tall!! Our Riou is no match (laughs). I look forward on how will the song be when those two team battles. I really can’t wait to see them battle.

So other than your own song, do you like any other songs?

My most favorite song would be <Hypnosis Mic -Division Battle Anthem->. All 12 people sing in one song, singing all at once and also solo. Moreover they made their own rhythm and it was tough. The song gave the most rap feeling. I really like the feeling it gave, as if beating people one after another. Of course, this song has a demo version and I’ve already sang it before. The demo song was also sung in character, so it really is like the sample (laughs). So, I think we shouldn’t let it get brushed off.  Also, I like Ichiro’s song, “Ore ga Ichiro,” because it’s catchy, isn’t it?

<Hypnosis Mic Division Battle Anthem>’s MV also shows all of you rap, that must’ve been a big deal wasn’t it?

You can watch the MV’s fullsize for free! It's the ultimate giveaway!. The MV’s appearance is so stylish, it gave that mood of “Maybe I’ll try to do rap!” and I’m really happy for that. Of course showing the character is important, but if that’s the only thing that is showcased, the rate of being shaken off by hip hop will fall. On top of the rap, I add in characterization so that the character can be received well. “Hypnosis mic” has become the key to wow factor contents.

It seems like all the casts are having fun, too. All of you who collaborated with “Hypnosis Mic” made a Champagne Tower at a karaoke store.

Yeah we did ! Actually what happened after that is a private matter, but out came the Champagne Tower (laughs) ! First we drank to <Battle Anthem>, and the tension rises. Lastly, we drank to Champagne Gold and………… it was bubbling (laughs) 。 There’s a lot of things you can do only within “Hypnosis Mic”, so I look forward to work with everyone.

There is a second live on 26th of August, isn’t there?

Yes, you’re right. But I’m so scared on how it is going to be like. They’re definitely going to include freestyle battles! Definitely! It’s horrifying!

In the Territory Battle with Ikebukuro Division, Yokohama Division is currently leading.

But the results are very close to each other, so I can’t figure out the outcome. This isn’t about “either way, everyone will be in peace”, but the project will continue on delivering contents only to that outcome, which I think is very unique. The songs and story will definitely be designed by their victory or loss, so I feel like the listeners are truly involved in this. To have a wave of something like “You guys  gotta win!” echoing to us motivates us to not lose. That’s why Ikebukuro should be crushed…………. (laughs).

(laughs) . Finally, any messages to the fans who supported you?

As time goes by, all the songs, story and goods will be brushed up, and it’ll expand rapidly. So in order to not get left behind by the momentum, do fight along with your favorite teams, favorite songs and favorite characters. And, by all means, please listen to rap other than “Hypnosis Mic”, too. I haven’t been informed much, but it seems like there’s going to be secret plan and hidden tricks so I want to support as much as I can. And please! Make MAD TRIGGER CREW be the winner! Samatoki thinks you do an amazing job as a psychiatrist and always says that you’re one of the smartest people he knows

but with that being said, he refuses to ever listen to your advice or guidance

he loves you as a girlfriend and would go to the ends of the Earth for whatever you needed

but as soon as you tell him to do/not do something that’s causing himself pain (either mentally or physically) he completely blocks you out

if you suggest a therapist or psychiatrist to him, he’s going to shrug and say that he already knows Jakurai and that they talk sometimes

when you say that Jakurai is not specifically a psychiatrist, Samatoki just kisses your neck to distract you and says that both go through medical school

and then he continues to distract you and the conversation never actually amounts to him seeing someone

he hates it whenever you try to diagnose him and will adamantly tell you to stop doing it if you ever try

he does like how good you are at communicating, though, because there are fewer arguments between the two of you since you’re always walking him through your thought process rather than just jumping into a fight

100% has asked you to write him a prescription just so that he could get the drugs for Juto for ‘police purposes’

of course you didn’t give him any, but you laughed and said that if he went to see a psychiatrist they might give him something

and to your surprise, that actually made Samatoki pause and consider going to talk to someone

for the most part, you keep your work out of your relationship, but sometimes you have to work late and you take some non-sensitive information home with you

Samatoki always asks you for juicy stories about your clients but then whines when you tell him that everything is confidential and you can’t say

whenever you get over-worked or emotionally drained, Samatoki is always there to let you snuggle into him

if you text him that you had a bad client/rough day, I can also imagine him making you your favorite meal

and then listening intently when you finally feel rejuvenated enough to talk about it with him

Jakurai Jinguji

you and Jakurai first met through mutual patients, and after spending time with each other, you decided to date

you both decided early on in the relationship never to discuss your patients with each other and it’s worked out very well ever since

Jakurai loves how seriously you take your job and how much you care for all of your patients

whenever you’re having an emotionally straining day, Jakurai is there with his iconic back rubs to soothe you

likewise, whenever he has a long shift, you always try to give him mental  health tips to relax and feel less stressed

it took Jakurai a long time to tell you about his past as an assassin and then his change to becoming a doctor

it’s not something he likes to share with a lot of people, but he loves you and wants you to know everything about him

he wants you to listen to him as his girlfriend though, not as a psychiatrist, so if you start to diagnose him, he’s going to close himself off again

in fact, throughout the relationship if you ever try to treat him like a patient, he’s going to get very cold with you and even annoyed

it’s not that he doesn’t respect you as a psychiatrist, on the contrary he thinks you’re incredible

and he’ll even take recommendations of colleagues of yours that he could meet with and talk to

because Jakurai definitely needs to speak with a psychiatrist or therapist and work through some of his past issues

but you aren’t his psychiatrist - you’re his girlfriend

it’ll make him feel weak to have you lay out all of his issues in front of him, so don’t try to give him too much of your professional opinion

instead, comfort him and support him, and when you do feel the need to talk to him as a psychiatrist, urge him to go to the colleague you originally sent him to

because all Jakurai wants from you is love and comfort - two things he never got enough of growing up

regardless of all of this though, your relationship is very deep and the two of you tend to open up a lot to each other

which is something both of you have trouble doing, so it works well

Sasara Nurude

Sasara is always saying how lucky he is to have a girlfriend as smart as you because he could never go to school for that long

he definitely tries to make jokes and puns about psychiatry but sometimes they just don’t work 

whenever you’ve had an emotionally stressful day, Sasara always loves to cuddle with you and just let you lean against him

he’ll always ask if you want to come to one of his shows and take time to relax because you work too much

and if you’re on call 24/7, he’s going to be sad when you wake up in the middle of the night, knowing you’re only going to get more stressed by working such crazy hours

but he takes pride in knowing that you’re helping people and that you’re doing your job so well

absolutely makes you a cake that says ‘Congratulations on being the smartest psychiatrist’ just because he wanted to show his love for you

he always whines and pouts whenever you try to analyze or diagnose him but he never takes it too seriously

he likes to keep things light-hearted, so for the most part he’ll play it off as a joke or just throw his arm around you until you give him attention

the two of you have definitely opened up to each other though, and when you have serious chats, that’s when Sasara will pay more attention to the things you tell him 

especially when they revolve around his past experiences with Rosho 

but as much as you want to help him, you encourage him to go see a professional who isn’t his girlfriend

and when he pulls you into him and says that he only wants to talk to you because you’re the best, most adorable, perfect psychiatrist ever

you can only laugh and kiss him and say that you’re pretty sure it’s a conflict of interest

I can imagine Sasara actually taking your recommendation to go talk to someone, but never mentioning it to you

not because he’s embaressed, but just because he doesn’t really feel like it’s something he needs to say

so he won’t tell you unless you flat out ask him

Sasara loves watching you work though, and as much as he hates that you can’t tell him stories about your patients, he knows that it’s for the best

I appreciate you going back and following the rules, and I know I say 3 characters, but you can’t just ask me to remove my husband Samatoki, especially not when it’s wedding headcanons, okay!? but he’s not going to show it on the outside - at least not at first

when he’s getting ready, he’ll play off as cool and not worried

but as soon as he sees you coming down that aisle, he’s tearing up because he’s 100% sure that you’re perfect in every way for him

the wedding itself won’t be very big because he likes to keep things more intimate and smaller

he’s low key excited for the reception so that he can slow dance with you in front of everyone

just to show them that you belong to each other now

one thing that he actually really wanted to be included on, which surprised you, was the cake

he told you that Nemu would always make cakes for his birthday and vice versa, so he really wanted a good-looking cake but it was more important that it actually tasted good

he definitely gets a little tipsy towards the end of the reception

but in the best way that just makes him flushed and more loving as he pulls you into him and whispers how thankful he is to you

for making him the happiest man alive

Juto:

leading up to the day, Juto has been coordinating everything perfectly 

he would ask for your help and input of course, but he wouldn’t want you to stress out about it too much

so he would hire the best caterers and designers to work their magic

on the actual day of the wedding, he’s not really nervous, just prepared and calmly excited on the inside

he’s also going to tear up when he makes his vows with you

and the first kiss is going to definitely be a bit longer and passionate than most

because Juto doesn’t care who sees tbh he has you now

the reception is going to be stunning with food from around the world and the most gorgeous decorations

he wouldn’t necessarily make a speech unless you wanted him to, but you had to beg him to let Samatoki and Riou say a a few words as his best men

he threatened them ahead of time with murder if they said anything bad

there’s going to be lots of teasing throughout the night from him about how good you look and how perfect everything is

and it’s all heartfelt and loving and never in bad faith

once the celebrations are over, he 100% picks you up bridal style and takes you straight to the honeymoon suite 

Riou:

he’s going to be super excited to help with all of the wedding planning and you’ll have to stop him from planning it like a combat mission

he would definitely want it outdoors and you would agree on the condition that there are sparkling fairy lights everywhere 

on the day of the wedding, he’s going to be a little nervous which will freak him out because he’s literally never been nervous before in his life

but once he sees you and you make your vows, all nerves will be gone and he’ll go back to being all smiles

he’s actually really going to be into the first dance and will practice with you for days ahead of time to get it right 

and you totally slay the night of

he’s also definitely going to do that thing where the couple both feed each other pieces of the cake after they cut it

and he’ll put a little dollop on your nose and say how cute you look 

he’s never really going to be stressed out at all during the whole thing, which will make you relaxed as well 

and after everyone leaves, I can imagine him slow dancing with you in the middle of the clearing with all the fairy lights still up and there’s no music

not for any other reason than he loves you so much and he’s nervous he’s not good enough for you

just give him lots of love and hugs and kisses leading up to the day

he’s going to be pretty strict with the caterers and decorators because he wants to make sure everything is exactly how you want it to be

you would have to remind him that this wedding is just as much his as it is yours

he wanted a small venue since he doesn’t have too many friends and his brothers will be there of course

they’d be teasing him lovingly the entire time they help him get ready

and he wouldn’t show them how nervous he was, but once the official ceremony is over and the two of you have been announced married

he’s going to be so incredibly happy 

Saburo isn’t too big on parties, but the reception is going to be so fun

it won’t be too overly decorated or luxurious, but it’ll be comfy and intimate with close friends and family

he’s also going to want to feed you the first bite of the cake after you cut it

alright!!!! imma finally try to put down my thoughts on how each teammate of the leaders have relationship similarities/parallels with previous teammates!!!! i apologise in advance if it’s hard to read lol

so for ichiro!!

jiro: the little bros are similar to different aspects of ichiro’s personality and time and time again, we’re reminded that ichiro and samatoki are two peas in a pod. so, jiro is closer in personality to samatoki because ichiro is closer to samatoki personality-wise. however, ichiro himself has one (1️⃣) type of man so it’s not that far of a stretch to say jiro has personality aspects similar to kuukou as well. jiro’s taste in music (given his speakers at least) and fashion sense are similar to kuukou tho

saburo: as ramuda has once put it, saburo is just like tdd ichiro, but without his charm and charisma lol

with samatoki—!!

juto: is parallel to sasara (tho juto came first so it could be the other way around lol). similar interaction beats but juto and sasara want/wanted different things from samatoki. both were probably attracted to how capable samatoki seemed with his power tho and i’m eagerly awaiting the next few dh/bat manga updates for more information!!!

rio: perhaps none but he could be a mini parallel with ichiro as a loner getting by as best as he can with a desire to fight the system. you could even make a gentle giant comparison to jakurai as they’re both with military backgrounds

and then for ramuda!!!

gentaro: flat out relationship parallels with jakurai with how gentaro is really curious about who ramuda is and pushes ramuda to snapping back at him for prying too far

dice: could be a bit of a parallel with ramuda himself. both may be putting up masks to play the roles they were given and no i’m not expanding on that here lol

next is jakurai—!!

hifumi: relationship beats similar with ramuda but that’s more to do with their similarly bright personalities. the relationship itself is actually a reversal of ramuda and jakurai’s; whereas jakurai had wanted to learn all he could about ramuda, it’s hifumi who is constantly trying to learn everything he can about jakurai. actually, more on their similar bright personalities, both hifumi and ramuda are...... subservient?? that’s not quite the word i’m looking for but they both place a lot of importance on women despite what women have done to them and similarly show callousness towards people in general. i’m pretty sure it’s more calculated on ramuda’s part tho, hifumi just doesn’t put much thought into what he’s saying lol

doppo: probably a parallel to another aspect of jakurai’s curiousity. jakurai was fine waiting for ramuda to tell him his secrets on his own time and that’s what doppo does as well. they are both pretty fatalist as well, tho jakurai’s comes from a different place than doppo’s

as for sasara’s team—!!

rosho: he’s flat out a samatoki parallel because sasara has one (1️⃣) type

rei: is one of a kind lol tho he is a yamada so we could act like that’s the parallel. and y’know. just to put it out there. by all accounts and definitions, rei is a bad boy so he is in line with sasara’s type—

and finally, kuukou!!

jyushi: another emo boy type kuukou keeps stumbling upon tho that’s probably about it. what jyushi needs from kuukou is different from what ichiro needed from him, even though at the base of it is the need for support. and what kuukou’s learning from jyushi is different from what kuukou was getting out of hanging around ichiro

hitoya: maaaybe none, but maaaybe he’s technically an emo boy that’s in kuukou’s life who’s a bit of a loner and has received kuukou’s unwavering support whether he wanted it or not (but maaay come to appreciate it in the long run)

me: *sees ichiro for the very first time unknowing that this was the start* oh that’s a cute piece of merch!!!!! who’s the guy on it i wonder???? 😲

Current impressions: does ichiro know that i would kill for him. it is important for me to know that ichiro knows i will do anything for him—

man, ichiro randomly popped into my life when i needed him the most; i was really tired from the the previous couple of fandoms i’d been in, looking for a new one unconsciously when he showed up in my email, hugging a cd and utterly adorable with his big heterochromatic eyes. i wish i had a pic of the merch on hand ‘cause it was love at first sight man 💕 and he continues to be an utter delight to know!!!!! he’s the 19 entrepreneur that everyone would be writing about due to his jaded past and how successful he’s gotten all due his hard work!!!!!!!!!! i definitely understand jiro and saburo’s hero worship over him!!!!

Favorite thing:

he’s just a really cool dude man. he’s incredibly levelheaded with an equal amount of brain smarts and street smarts. but that levelheadedness is something he’s working hard to maintain. his personality is closer to samatoki’s and he knows this and wants to be better than the man who let him down and to be a good role model for his brothers with it. he’s an head full thoughts many kinda character and it shows in pretty much everything he does

Least favorite:

his seiyuu is kinda wack lol sometimes it feels like ichiro is one of those bland characters that doesn’t do anything and the surrounding characters are all totes more interesting yet are, for some reason, super into this bland character. thank god this statement is a total disservice to ichiro’s character because he’s incredibly interesting, it’s just ichiro is currently in an ‘after story’ kind of arc in his life where everything is good (for now.) it just sometimes feels like he’s being left behind in the story 😕

What i want to see from this character:

what don’t i want to see??????????????? how is he going to react seeing his father again and on the same team as his old teammate, sasara??????????? does he really know he’s been alive all this time???????? if he has, how is he going to deal with how betrayed his brothers may feel????????????? apparently he and samatoki can make up now since he knows nemu is ‘missing’ and samatoki knows that ichiro has nothing to do with her leaving him but will it really be that easy????????? will he and kuukou make up and be aikata back at again, like how is he going to react seeing kuukou again?????????

Favorite moments:

hhhhhhhhhhhh okay i’m going all in.

it’s not really a favorite moment but something that strikes me as a hindsight is 20/20 kinda thing, but ichiro fully intended to leave his little brothers out of his team and the rap battles. in the very first buster bros drama track, he gave them an assignment each, fully expecting them to fail. it comes as a surprise to him that they got it done and done so well. now, he’s been fully supportive of having his brothers be his team but it’s terribly ironic for him to get so offended when anyone insults his brothers abilities when he was the first to have doubted them.

and say ichiro has known their father’s been alive all this time. rei honestly might as well had been good as dead to them with how absent he’s been in their lives. granted, it’s definitely not something that comes up in casual conversation but with jiro and saburo having to confront ichiro pretty much twice in the course of helter skelter, it really looks like ichiro just doesn’t have faith in his brothers to outsiders and that could really blow up on him man

in our treasure trove of character tidbits called arb, when you have ichiro set as your my room mascot, he comments on his brothers who seemed to have stepped out and it’s something along the lines of:

“where is jiro? i hope he’s not getting involved with any weird people....” and “where did saburo go?? ......well, if it’s him, i think he’ll be alright.”

and if this isn’t the best example of how ichiro feels about his brothers individually lol. i’m sure ichiro is worried jiro’s trying to copy him too much and sees saburo doing things he was never capable of at his age as an inspiration but it’s interesting food for thought

and then in the stage play (*crowd boos*) has some of the best ichiro moments but i’m just going to say ichiro yelling at his brothers for being too loud with their musical number when he was the loudest one on the stage was really fcking funny 🤣

Headcanon:

i’m pretty sure this is canon at this point but ichiro is a clingy mf like once he’s decided you’re one of his peoples, then you are one of his peoples. you see it with how much of a brocon he is, you see it in the stage play when his long lost childhood friend, kazu, rolls into town and refuses to believe that kazu may be trouble, and you see it with ichiro naming his team buster(s) bros after his old team with kuukou who he still thinks about and considers a friend. (and might i add, was willing to change everything about himself in order to keep kuukou by his side and he’s the only person we see ichiro seriously crying over save for when he thought his brothers were dead after he lost the showdown battle with samatoki)

ICHIKUU FOR LIFE!!!!!!!! ICHIKUU SUPREMACY MUST BE REINSTATED!!!!!!!!! like bro how do you have two different types of protagonists mesh as well as they do like they’re both loners with a huge amount of power but where kuukou is kinda nuts ichiro is kinda cool. kuukou is definitely ichiro’s sun but kuukou’s the one who puts himself into ichiro’s orbit like if their relationship turns out to be where if ichiro is struggling or if he’s calling and kuukou comes running, i will actually perish!!!! and then they’re both weebs!!!!! i really wanna know how this current ichiro, who’s a lot happier and not emo, and kuukou are going to mesh!!!!

[TL] The Blazing-Hot Bond of the Yamada Brothers This Summer! (Interview w/ KimuSuba)

The first part of our interviews with the cast of “Hypnosis Mic,” is with the project’s poster boy Yamada Ichiro, as portrayed by Kimura Subaru-san! The representative of Ikebukuro Division, and eldest son of the Yamada household, told us everything we needed to know about “Hypnosis Mic.” The extra bit about how the Yamada household spends their summer is a must-read. ♪

—Yamada Ichiro is here, amazing! So, what is your appeal?

First off, the most obvious part would be that he’s the leader of Ikebukuro Division. “Buster Bros!!!” is made up of the three brothers of the Yamada household, so as the eldest son, he has the character of an older brother; a strong rapper that brings his little brothers together. He’s full of brotherly love and puts his brothers first and foremost, that’s Ichiro’s appeal.

—Ichiro is the eldest son of the Yamada household, with a pair of younger brothers. Do you empathize with that at all?

Since I have a little sister, when I saw them bickering, in my head I’d be like “I feel you!!!”. It really makes me smile. Us Kimura siblings are very close even though we fight sometimes, very similar to the brothers; but it’s still different between having a sister and having a brother. I wanted a little brother too. Three brothers is nice, isn’t it!

—How did you encounter “Hypnosis Mic?”

Thankfully, I was the first to receive their offer. Producer Hirano Souichiro himself came to my agency to explain the project. Even though neither the names nor visuals of the characters had been decided on yet, I told him, “Of course I’ll do it!”

—What an enthusiastic reply! (laughs) From that point on, what was your impression when Yamada Ichiro’s visuals and personality were decided upon?

I thought, “He’s handsome, isn’t he!” (laughs). When there were only summary notes on his character, he was more of a reckless yankee, a delinquent, someone like that… So I had that kind of image in my head, but Ichiro was so much cooler than I expected. I was surprised. So I thought, “I see, he really does appeal to women!” (laughs).

—His name has an impact, doesn’t it?

It’s a totally unmistakable name. There are always character names in manga or anime with kanjis that you don’t know how to read when you first saw them. Eventually you even learn to write those words with pronunciations that are difficult to look up and memorize...that’s how it usually goes right? And then there’s “Yamada Ichiro” which you see a lot on examples of governmental forms (laughs). On the other hand, in terms of the divisions’ naming schemes, Ikebukuro has names that very easily convey that they’re brothers. All three of them also have the mismatched eye visual. With all that sense of unity, it certainly feels as though the team is a step ahead of the other Divisions.

—The four Divisions of Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Shibuya, and Shinjuku have been introduced, but what makes Ikebukuro Division number one?

It’s definitely the fact that they’re brothers. The other teams might be good friends, but they don’t have the same harmony that comes from living under the same roof. The kind of trust you develop day after day, year after year since birth can’t be beat by the other Divisions. Since the three of them are all teenagers, their futures are promising. The members of Yokohama’s “MAD TRIGGER CREW” are the strongest, no? Since they’re already the strongest, I think it’d be hard to be even stronger, but for “Buster Bros!!!”, even if they lose once, they have tons of possibilities to become much stronger!

—Please tell us your favorite out of Ikebukuro Division’s music.

“IKEBUKURO WEST GAME PARK.” It was the first song sung with three people, and with a strong sense of brotherhood, it was very fun to sing. On the other hand, the most difficult was “WAR WAR WAR,” which is on the same CD. There was actually a bit of a miscommunication, walking into the studio to record it, I thought we were doing a different song but it was “WAR WAR WAR”...　Although it was my first time seeing it, after listening to it several times I somehow managed to record it… Actually, it was a “WAR WAR WAR” that I really struggled with (laughs).

—Do any of the other Divisions have a song you’d like to sing, a favorite song?

From the Division Battle CD again, “Yokohama Walker.” I really love it, it’s so cool. It’s very “MAD TRIGGER CREW” and Yokohama-esque, a particularly cool type of hip hop that suits them quite well. Even a pro rapper would be jealous of such a cool song. But since each Division has their own team color, it’s not a song Ikebukuro can sing! I’m jealous! If I had to pick from the Division CDs, it’d be Yumeno Gentaro’s “Scenario Liar,” the poetry of which I like, or Iruma Juto’s “Bayside Smoking Blues,” which is stylish. Kannonzaka Doppo’s “Tigridia” seems to be a little difficult, huh… Everyone’s songs are different, so the four CDs provide an easy introduction into different styles within hip hop.

—Kimura-san, which character in particular are you interested in?

From Ichiro’s recounts, there are some entanglements between Ramuda and Jakurai-sensei. They’re ex-members of the same team, “THE Dirty Dawg.” Samatoki is, too, but we haven’t expanded upon that yet. Ichiro trusts Jakurai-sensei, and, though he keeps a distance with Ramuda, he doesn’t dislike him. So I think Ichiro is most interested in the ex-Dirty Dawg members. For myself, I’m interested in Dice because at such a young age he’s become such a reckless gambler (laughs). I don’t have any friends who are of that type, so it’s nice to meet someone different. It would be interesting if we get along well.

—Speaking of which, Kimura-san, is there any character you’d like to become friends with?

Everyone is so unique, and I think the brothers of the Yamada household are particularly nice… Ramuda is fluffy-feeling, but at the same time you could say he’s prickly; he’s a guy like Pop Rocks candy. That being the case, I don’t think he’d hide his true feelings. Seems like he’s fun to be around.

—Then, Kimura-san, who would you rap battle against yourself?

Anyone is OK! I want to have a rap battle with the whole cast! (laughs)

—One could say that your character Yamada Ichiro is the poster boy of the work, but did you ever consult the cast on anything for your rap?

Occasionally. Back then, I had discussions related to singing and things like getting the feel for the rhythm and flow. My freestyle, too, wasn’t quite up to par, so I’d ask for advice like “What kind of CD should I be listening to?” The three members of Ikebukuro, Ishiya-kun, Amasaki-kun, and myself have a group chat on LINE where we recommend each other music.

—Kimura-san, what would you do if you came into possession of a Hypnosis Mic?

Eh—what would I do? I guess I have no choice but to rap, but the actual thought of using it is a little frightening. Especially since it tampers with your opponent’s psyche… I’d display it in a glass case. That way, on the off chance I need it, I can get it (laughs).

—From here, “Hypnosis Mic” is spreading in a variety of ways, so please tell us what you would like to try to do with it in the future.

First of all, I’m happy that it’s made it this far. Secondly, I want more people to properly learn about “Hypnosis Mic,” and attend the live shows. Listening to the CDs is fine as well, but nothing compares to the raw sound you get from lives, which is why I’d really like to perform more of them. Aside from the live in August, it’d be nice to perform at a live house in Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Shibuya, and Shinjuku...something like that would be a dream come true. It’d be interesting to have additional Divisions and groups too.

—What kind of Division would you like to see?

As far as rap culture is concerned, Osaka already has promising rappers, Okinawa holds rap music close to home, and Yamanashi has a few hot rappers, as well. I’d be happy to see a Yamanashi Division! That fires me up! For the addition of a new team, they’d like Ikebukuro at first and later come to be fans of other teams, and I’d be happy to see “Hypnosis Mic” grow bigger! No matter what kind of Division comes about, I want it!

—Lastly, please give a message to the fans of Ikebukuro Division.

The three brothers of the Yamada household are overcoming hardships every day, so we would like for people to heal us just for a little bit… That’s why I’d like to call the people who cheer for “Buster Bros!!!” “family.” Please support “Buster Bros!!!” and join the household! Q. Speaking of summer sweets in the Yamada house…?

It seems like the Yamada household eats milk jelly. Especially when paired with oranges. But, I, myself, like milk jelly so that's saying a lot (laughs). We still don’t have any scenes of the Yamadas cooking, but I believe Saburo would have made it for Ichiro to eat. At first, he made it because he liked it, but then he made it because Ichiro liked it...what do you think of that? On the other hand, I feel like Saburo would make way too many and get tired of it after having a little, and get into pudding instead (laughs). I think the three of them would have their own ways of eating pudding, too. Saburo is the type to eat top-down like normal and eat the caramel last, while Ichiro goes bottom-up and eats the caramel first. Jiro likes to mix his pudding. I’m sure of that. Rather than milk jelly or pudding, Jiro likes red bean paste donuts more. Something like that. In the summer they use a machine to make shaved ice, but they fight over whether to use strawberry, melon, or Blue Hawaii syrup for so long that the ice melts, and they have to resort to eating milk jelly (laughs).
